Covid 19 has made work from home or remote working option totally normal. Students are accustomed to this platform because virtual online teaching (VOLT) has enabled students to get along with this audio-visual method. They are learning case studies via visual methods and hence their enthusiasm has increased.

Remote work is the new normal and developing activities for virtual classes is creating an excellent impact on overall efficiency. Also, there are plenty of employees who had to travel to different cities in order to earn more post this pandemic. Thus, sticking to one location for the job is no more an effective option.

Travel and work is the happening topic and people are relocating themselves, or often going nomad for the love of their profession.

English teachers who used to teach English to non-English speakers are becoming digital nomad online English teachers for the sake of having a stable financial slab and of course, a vast experience. Everyone loves to earn more and teachers who live in a developing country have moderate economic status should go for this strategy. What could be better than sitting at home, giving lessons to students, and earning in US Dollars?

There are numerous countries where people can teach English as digital nomads. These are the top 5 options you can try:

Tallinn, Estonia:

If lush green nature draws you, more than two opposite poles of magnets do, then Tallinn, Estonia is nature's gift to your desire. You might not find here tourists like most of the European cities but you’d probably be astonished to know that Estonia is one of the most tech-savvy societies in the world where companies like Skype and Transfer Wise were being founded.

Estonia was one of the first countries to implement a Digital Nomad Visa (DNV) for freelancers. The DNV aims to bring long-term visitors to the country during a downtrend in travel and offers work from home for a foreign company. Freelancers get the opportunity to live and work in Estonia for up to one year, without grey area. To avail of Estonia’s DNV, you will need to provide evidence that your income met the minimum threshold during the six months preceding your application that is €3504 as per the current evaluation (gross of tax).

Porto, Portugal:

Porto's popularity as a Digital Nomad country is growing as fast as a Cheetah. If you want to get vibes like Lisbon but expenditure and crowd scare you, the Porto is the place. With its artsy, hipster vibes, enchanted castles, and bustling food scene, Porto is a mesmerizing location!

Portugal’s D7 Passive Income Visa allows holders to stay in Portugal for 12 months. D7 Passive Income Visa can be extended for 2 years at a time and after 5 years can be converted into a permanent residence permit. Non-EU citizens should give evidence that they have a clean criminal record, can be self-sustained during their stay, and that they have a consistent income source (monthly income must be higher than the national minimum wage 600€ per month x 12 months = €7,200 annually).

Mexico City, Mexico:

Mexico has long been one of the fascinating locations for digital nomads because it is affordable, has expansive terrain (deserts, beaches, jungles), and of course, authentic Mexican cuisine. It’s a modern city with a high-end infrastructure having fast, cheap, and reliable internet which is most required when teaching English online. If you’re looking for a US city that has major and significant amenities but at half the cost, then Mexico City is the best location for you.

Mexico offers various lucrative options for long-term foreign visitors. If you're planning to stay for 6 months or less, you’ll only need a tourist visa which is obtained on your flight or at the airport upon your arrival in Mexico. Just make sure that your country of citizenship is part of Mexico’s NO VISA list of countries to avail of this facility.

If you want to stay in Mexico City for 6 months or less, consider these options:

1. You can go for a Border Hop.
2. You can apply for a Temporary Resident Visa. - this is intended for people who wish to reside in Mexico for more than 180 days but no longer than four years.

Bali, Indonesia:

Canggu, Bali is considered to be the Mecca of digital nomads. It was a sleepy village along the south coast of Bali but now has blossomed as one of the hippest places in all of Indonesia. Bali is full of natural beauties, exotic beaches, monumental tourist spots, and awesome nightlife. Thus, working in Bali as an English teacher will give you an excellent opportunity to explore one of the happening tourist destinations of the world.

You can grab a Visa on Arrival (VoA) for $35 USD (valid for 30 days) at any International airport in Indonesia. It can be extended once for another 30-days (for an additional $35 USD), and that allows you to stay in Indonesia for a maximum of up to 60-days. You’ll have to leave Indonesia on a “visa run” and come back in to grab another VoA if you want to stay longer. You can even return that very same day if you like and not all countries are eligible for VOA.

Hence, digital nomad online English teachers is a classic step that is enabling English teachers to teach via virtual online teaching (VOLT) and becoming more efficient and experienced as well.
